The Divine Mercy Chaplet is prayed on rosary beads, but it is quicker because the prayers are shorter. It promises to bestow innumerable graces and God's divine mercy.

In the 1930s, Sister Faustina received an assignment from God. He asked her to be a model of mercy to others and to remind everyone of His plan for salvation for the world. Her diary, The Diary of Saint Maria Faustina Kowalska: Divine Mercy in My Soul, has become the handbook for devotion to the Divine Mercy.

According to tradition, those who pray the Divine Mercy Chaplet will receive Jesus as their Counsel at the moment of their death and final judgment, they will receive grace and mercy no matter how seriously they have sinned, and they will receive all that they ask for in prayer, provided that their request is in alignment with God's holy will.

Begin the Divine Mercy Chaplet

Before you begin the Divine Mercy Chaplet hold the crucifix in your right hand and make the sign of the cross. To make the sign of the cross, touch your forehead, middle of chest, left shoulder and right shoulder while saying: "In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. Amen."

Start praying the Divine Mercy Chaplet prayer by saying the following words three times in succession:

"O Blood and Water, which gushed forth from the heart of Jesus, I trust in you."

Pray the Our Father

"Our Father, Who art in heaven, hallowed be Thy name; Thy kingdom come; Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread; and forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those who trespass against us; and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. Amen."

Then, Pray the Hail Mary

"Hail Mary, full of grace. The Lord is with thee. Blessed art thou among women, and blessed is the fruit of thy womb, Jesus. Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us sinners, now and at the hour of our death. Amen."

And then Say the Apostle’s Creed

"I believe in God, the Father Almighty, Creator of Heaven and Earth; and in Jesus Christ, His only Son, our Lord, Who was conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of the Virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified; died, and was buried. He descended into Hell; the third day He arose again from the dead; He ascended into Heaven, and sits at the right hand of God, the Father Almighty; from thence He shall come to judge the living and the dead. I believe in the Holy Spirit, the holy Catholic Church, the communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body, and life everlasting. Amen."

Pray the Large Beads

On the large bead before each decade (set of 10 smaller beads) say:

"Eternal Father, I offer you the Body and Blood, Soul and Divinity of Your Dearly Beloved Son, Our Lord, Jesus Christ, in atonement for our sins and those of the whole world."

Then Pray the Decades

On each of the ten smaller beads, say

"For the sake of His sorrowful Passion, have mercy on us and on the whole world."

Repeat the last two steps for the next four decades (groups of ten beads).

Conclude the Divine Mercy Chaplet

Say the following words three times:

"Holy God, Holy Mighty One, Holy Immortal One, have mercy on us and on the whole world."

End with "Amen."
